2026 – The Design Edit

Quiet confidence. Considered evolution. Design with depth.

For over a decade, BLOK Design Co. has delivered timeless, intelligent interior design across South East Queensland. As we step into 2026, we do so with confidence — not by reinventing who we are, but by evolving our design language with intention.

This next chapter reflects growth — A growing team, a broader range of project types and a deeper refinement of our design ethos.

We remain anchored in what matters most — project-specific design. Every space is shaped by its architecture, its context, and the people who live within it. Mood, tone, texture, colour and budget will continue to be carefully composed, not prescribed.

Design that feels personal, layered, and enduring.

A Materiality-First Approach

This year we have seen a move away from overt luxury and excess. A shift into quiet luxury — fewer materials of higher quality, chosen for their tactility, longevity and honesty.

We are embracing:

Lime wash finishes, micro cement, honed stone, soft plaster, and natural textural timbers

Decorative lamps, wall lights and concealed LEDs that create warmth and ambience rather than directional task lighting

Spaces that are calm and tonal — collected, not curated.

BLOK intends to remain at the forefront of technology and the way it continues to shape the design process. AI and automation will influence workflows and ideation in the coming years and we will be using technology to enhance creativity, not replace it.

Ahead of the Curve

The Pantone Colour of 2026, Cloud Dancer, has been described as “a whisper of tranquillity and peace in a noisy world.”

Quietly ahead of the curve, it’s a sentiment BLOK has been exploring throughout 2025, and one that we will continue to use as we elevate into 2026.

We're celebrating softly saturated hues, muted earthy palettes, and complex tones rather than brights or primaries — our colour application vibes are gentle & with intention

Australiana influences continue to evolve, with inspiration drawn from terracotta-washed neutrals, clay pinks, eucalyptus and olive greens, ochre and tobacco and the dusty blues and soft greys.

Visible joins, hand-finished surfaces and imperfect textures are no longer flaws when it comes to material honesty, rather these are now celebrated.

This aligns with a growing appreciation for, local makers, sustainable sourcing, solid timbers, handmade tiles and woven fibres and leathers, with BLOK’s long-standing commitment to bespoke furniture design continuing. Showcasing form, craft and collaboration with both local and international suppliers.

What We’re Carrying Forward

In 2025, BLOK delivered 29 bespoke interior design projects across South East Queensland. What a major milestone!

Our greatest insight from last year's projects is that our clients value time, presence & trust above all else. Renovating or building is a deeply personal process, and at times, a demanding one. What our clients seek is a dedicated design team, clear & confident guidance, and a seamless process from concept through to completion.

Our designers provide calm, considered leadership. Clarity where it counts. This philosophy carries us into 2026.

As our team grows, project scales evolve and new sectors open our core remains unchanged: Design-led service with human connection at its heart.

The BLOK Aesthetic in 2026

Our projects will continue to push the boundaries within professional interior design through design-led decisions rather than overt statements. Within the local market, spaces will be curated to feel fresh and forward-thinking, moving away from familiar references in favour of new spatial and material expressions. Our aim is not disruption for its own sake, but progression through considered design.

A strong emphasis remains on sourcing. Materials, furnishings, and finishes are selected from unique and often hard-to-find suppliers, allowing each project to develop its own identity. This process resists repetition and ensures that no two outcomes feel interchangeable.

2026 looks bright. BLOKs future aesthetic is guided by intuition and response. It will take its cues from the architecture itself, letting form, light, and proportion naturally shape the space. Staying closely connected to the client we will reflect our design in how each space is lived in. The result is an approach that feels confident and thoughtfully curated. Relaxed and effortless rather than overly styled.

Quietly confident rather than loudly styled.
