Styling in response to architecture, materiality and light

Property styling begins well before a buyer walks through the front door. Increasingly, the first experience of a home happens online — through a carefully curated collection of images that need to communicate not only how a property looks, but how it might feel to live there.

For 26 Rigel Street, Coorparoo, our styling approach was shaped by exactly that idea. Working with an already beautifully resolved architectural palette, our role was to complement rather than compete — creating a series of considered spaces that celebrated the home’s materiality, volume and connection to its leafy surrounds.

An Organic, Layered Approach

Designed to embrace morning light, afternoon sun and cooling breezes, the home sits comfortably within its landscape.

A warm and tactile material palette establishes the foundation: Adobo timber and Klaus brick are layered with engineered oak, natural stone, microcement, walnut cabinetry and brushed copper detailing, bringing richness and depth throughout the interiors.

Our styling concept responded to this existing architectural language through natural textures, sculptural forms and a restrained approach to colour.

Soft linens, tactile finishes and carefully curated objects introduce warmth and softness, while furniture selections were considered in scale and proportion to allow the architecture to remain the defining feature.

Rather than filling each space, the intention was to give the home room to breathe.

Celebrating Volume + Light

The home’s sculptural curves, soaring ceilings and statement staircase beneath the circular skylight create a strong rhythm throughout the interior.

These architectural moments informed our approach to each space.

Furniture was intentionally pared back to preserve sightlines and celebrate the home’s generous proportions, while the expansive living, dining, kitchen and bar areas were styled to reinforce the effortless relationship between indoors and the surrounding landscape.

Each selection became part of the wider composition — adding enough warmth, texture and personality to make the spaces feel lived in, without distracting from the architecture itself.

Styling Through the Lens

A beautifully styled home needs to work both in person and through the camera lens.

For 26 Rigel Street, each room was therefore considered not only as an individual interior, but as part of the property’s wider visual narrative.

Photography angles, natural light, visual balance, colour consistency and the relationship between adjoining spaces all informed the styling process. Layering and considered lifestyle moments helped introduce emotion while maintaining the quiet, refined character of the home.

The result is a cohesive series of spaces that move naturally from one to the next — and photography that gives prospective buyers a sense of the home before they ever arrive.

Revealing the Story of a Home

At BLOK Design Co., successful property styling isn’t simply about making a home look beautiful.

It is about understanding what already makes a property special and using design to bring that story forward.

At Rigel Street, our approach was intentionally restrained: responding to the architecture rather than overpowering it, enhancing the home’s warmth and materiality, and creating spaces that feel resolved, balanced and authentic — both through the lens and in person.
