Warmth Above the City | Monterey
Warm. Organic. Timeless. Refined.
Set high above Kangaroo Point with spectacular Brisbane city views, Monterey was transformed from a cold, dark apartment into a warm and inviting family home.
The existing interior featured black curtains, glossy tiled flooring and heavy finishes that disconnected the home from its incredible outlook. Our vision was to soften the space, introduce warmth and create an effortless flow throughout — allowing the view to remain the hero.

A Considered Transformation
Rather than completely rebuilding, we focused the $150,000 budget where it would have the greatest impact.
The existing kitchen footprint and cabinetry were retained, while dark finishes were replaced with warm oak and a new tiled splash back. Flooring was replaced throughout, immediately creating greater warmth and continuity.
Natural stone, oak timber, textured fabrics and soft fibres were layered throughout the apartment, with curved furniture and organic forms bringing softness and movement.

Framing the View
The living and dining spaces became a key focus. We partnered with Jardan to select the dining setting and bar stools, complementing the home's natural palette with timeless, understated pieces.
Custom sheers by Blindo were another defining element, replacing the existing black curtains and completely changing the way light moves through the apartment. Soft and flowing, they frame the skyline rather than compete with it.

The Result
Completed over six months, Monterey is now a light-filled, contemporary home designed for relaxed family living.
By working thoughtfully with the existing apartment and focusing on materiality, light, flow and carefully curated furnishings, we created an interior that feels warm, organic, timeless and refined — effortlessly connected to its spectacular Brisbane backdrop.
